To dream

(melody from 'song to Talia' by Mercedes Lackey)

To be a slave is all this humble one can hope to be, and she has not been good at that at all.
For clumsy, stupid and too haughty for her good is she, she will too often disobey or fall.

And so she has been taught that she is worth less then the dogs, for dogs are useful which she cannot be,
She'll only learn a lesson when a Master whips or flogs, and cries and snivels all the time you see.

She know she'll not succeed but she cannot stop to try, to give her all, to follow, to obey,
And when she tries to do her best her nerves will get so high, that without clumsiness she cannot stay.

She dreams of being wanted and she dreams of being good, in what they wish for her to do or be,
And though her music often earned her hard slaps or a boot, it's only in her songs her dreams are free.
